The Safety Wall: Why We Need a Path on Ferry Hill

The Problem: A Highway That Just Stops

Imagine a highway that simply stops 500 meters before the exit. That is the reality of Ferry Hill.

For pedestrians and cyclists, the “road” to the terminal disappears into a dangerous, crumbling shoulder. Every day, our children, seniors, and commuters are forced to gamble with traffic just to reach the ferry and back home again. This isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a safety wall that creates a physical barrier to access.

The Current Reality

In March 2024, terminal upgrades were “indefinitely canceled.” Residents have become so desperate for safety measures that they resorted to self-installing delineators in December 2025. This proves one thing: The community cannot wait for “process” any longer.

We are done waiting for internal assessments that never come. GTS is taking action to bypass the bureaucratic bottleneck:

  1. Commissioning the Design: GTS is funding an independent, engineer-approved design for a protected multi-use pathway.
  2. Delivering a Plan: By handing the RDN and MoTI a “shovel-ready” plan, we remove the technical excuses for delay.
  3. Securing the Commitment: Our goal is to lock this project into the RDN’s 2026 Work Plan.

Join the Fight

We aren’t asking for a luxury path. We are asking for a safe shoulder to walk on. We need your voice to tell the RDN that this is a priority.
